Wigs don’t grow hair, we hear you say, so why would you need to trim your wig? There are numerous reasons you might want to give your wig a trim. Such as it starting to look a little unkempt around the ends ,it being too dense and thick for your face shape, or simply because you want to try a new style.
If you decide that you need to give your wig a trim, then these are our top tips for setting to it with a pair of scissors. As wigs don’t grow, you must know what you are doing before you start hacking it to pieces!
You might want to thin out your wig because it is too dense for your face or because there is too much hair in it to create a natural-looking updo, which you might need to achieve if you have a looming special occasion to attend. If it’s just that you are unhappy with how dense your wig is, then thinning out your wig is an option.
This is something you can do yourself, but it is most definitely not recommended, if you make a mistake, it will not grow back and buying a new wig is very costly. As such, it might be better to take your wig to a professional hairdresser for them to style and thin it out. Doing that is a lot cheaper than risking messing up your new wig and having to buy a new one! We said this at the beginning, but this is always our advice when doing anything permanent to your wig or hairpiece.
