Wednesday the 10th of March 2021 is International Wig Day. It’s a huge event in our calendar and for anyone else in the wig industry despite being a very young event.

The first year it was celebrated was 2016, since then International Wig Day has gone on to garner support from all four corners of the world.

Where Wig Day began

It was started by a costume store in Denmark to raise awareness for the need to support the fight against cancer.

By wearing wigs on International Wig Day, celebrators of the wig are highlighting the transformative power of a wig for people who have undergone treatments like chemotherapy.

Of course, it’s not just chemotherapy that can cause people to suffer from hair loss. There are lots of diseases and conditions that can cause someone to lose hair. Wearing a wig on International Wig Day is a great way to raise awareness for the need to reduce the stigma around wig wearing.
