Wig density refers to the number of individual strands of hair found in each section of the product.
Wig density is more or less the same as hair density. If you imagine the human scalp, a person with high density hair will have a large number of follicles in each square-inch of skin. A person with low hair density will have fewer strands of hair in each section of scalp.
As @PureWow explains, “While hair thinness or thickness refers to the circumference of each strand, hair density refers to how thin or thick the collective group of hairs is.”
Wig density is important because it has a big impact on the finished look of your wig. If you opt for a high density product, your hair will look thick and heavy.
If you go for a low density wig, your hair will look lighter. Most people have around 2,200 strands of hair per square inch and a total of 100,000 hairs in total.
