Washing & conditioning your wig

Washing

• We recommend washing your wig after appx.14 days full wear or sooner depending on the environment the wig is being subjected to.
• Fill a basin with tepid water and add a dash of "Liquid Gold Shampoo” Order Code:AC013HW and froth the water.
• Turn the wig inside out and leave to soak submerged in the solution for 20 minutes.
• Gently swish the wig in the water just before removing it.  DO NOT RUB THE FIBRES!

Rinsing

• Remove the wig from the solution and reverse it back to its normal form, carefully rinse with cold water from the inside so that the fibers are pushed away from the  base until all traces of the shampoo are removed.          

Drying

• Place on a towel and blot dry. DO NOT RUB THE WIG!
• Carefully blot out the excess water. 
• After blotting put your hands inside the wig and gently shake to lift and separate the fibres.
• DO NOT ATTEMPT TO BRUSH THE WIG WHEN WET, instead, spray with “Revitalising spray on Conditioner” Order Code: AC012HW place on a "Wig Drying Frame” Order Code: AC023T and leave overnight to dry naturally.  DO NOT DRY ON POLYSTYRENE HEADS OR ALLOW TO DRY FLAT.
• With synthetic wigs NO setting is necessary, curls will snap back into shape when dry.
• Synthetic wigs should  always be left to dry over night on a “Wig Drying Frame” Order Code: AC023T

Conditioning

• Spray “Revitalising spray on Conditioner” Order Code: AC012HW (DO NOT RINSE) for conditioning. This can be used when the wig is wet or dry, we suggest a daily application of this product to help reduce fibre frizz.

Styling

• Use the “Styling Spritz” Order Code:AC0014HW  this styling spritz helps maintain your style, achieve different effects and adds shine the more you use the more hold you will achieve. For ultimate hold use a final spray of  “Holding Spray” Order Code:AC0015HW to fix the style in place.
• Finger style synthetic wigs as much as possible DO NOT BLOW DRY OR OVER BRUSH, We recommend the use of a wide tooth brush such as our “Silicone Tipped Wig Brush” Order Code: AC050. For that extra special finish a final spray of “Shine gloss Order Code”  ACLY50  may be applied after the wig has dried and all styling has been completed, this will provide that final shine.  Alternatively you can purchase our complete “Wig Care Pack” Order Code: AC0030 with all the basic products you need to care for your new wig in the one pack

VERY IMPORTANT

• Never use bleaches, tints or dyes on synthetic wigs they will  not  alter the colour of your synthetic wig but will damage the base material and fibres.
• We do not recommend the use of any other hairsprays other than those listed above as hair sprays can coat and clog the fibres.
• Do not use a hairdryer or any heated hair appliance on synthetic wigs.  Any form of heat above 160 degrees centigrade will irreparably damage your wig.  Please remember when cooking, oven temperatures and eye level grills are often operating above 160 degrees centigrade.  Although sunlight will not directly damage your wig, colour lift  will become apparent depending on the amount of exposure it receives. 

All our products can safely be used on any of our synthetic wigs and will help maintain the original lustre and elasticity of the wig.

Wigs made of synthetic fibres may well experience fibre friction, the extent of this depends on the length of the wig and the environment in which the wig is subjected to. Fibre friction is not a fault but a natural occurrence in synthetic wig products and will increase with wear. 

Natural head movement allows the fibres to rub together or rub against other synthetic materials being worn, this creates a static charge in the fibre which causes the ends to frizz and in some cases tangle. The longer the hair the more prevalent the problem. Fibre friction is usually confined to the underside of the wig and the ends of the fibre and can start to occur from the first day the wig is worn.

Ways of reducing fibre friction.

1) Ensure no synthetic garments are in contact with the wig when being worn.

2) Use conditioning sprays “Revitalising spray on Conditioner” Order Code: AC012HW regularly in the areas most vulnerable to fibre friction (underneath the back of the wig and in the neckline).

3)  Allow the natural drying of synthetic wigs and always use a spray conditioner “Revitalising spray on Conditioner” Order Code: AC012HW prior to brushing out the wig.
